Stephen Borden, my great, great grandfather married Sarah Potter Brayton and lived in Fall River all his life. His main occupation was carriage builder and painter and he owned a shop which was first located at the corner of 4th and Pleasant (that location is now an overpass where I-195 cuts through the center of Fall River below it). This is right near the Quequechan river path. Later he moved his shop to Bank St across from the Armory. He also served as a volunteer fireman.
Stephen and Sarah had six children, two boys and four girls. One son was Stephen A Borden, my great grandfather, and the other son was Charles E Borden. Charles worked with Stephen in his shop as a blacksmith. The daughters were Ida May (Sisson), Louisa (Springer), Sarah (Waterman) and Sylvia (Whitehead). There will be pages on each of them in this site as some of their descendants have provided me with much material.
Sarah P Brayton. Brayton is a prominent family name in the area since the 1640's. As such, there is much material on the Braytons in this site. Sarah's maternal grandfather, Pardon Lake and her paternal grandfather Borden Brayton and her paternal great grandfather David Brayton, were all soldiers of the American revolution.
