Thomas and Mary Booth came from England. Thomas was a skilled textile worker in Manchester, England and he came to work the mills in Fall River. He worked at the Mechanics mill as a loom fixer. He arrived in 1892 and Mary and the children, including my grandmother, followed in 1895. Thomas was from Manchester, Mary was from Birtle and my Grandmother Clara was born in Ramsbottom on Bolten St. See the picture postcard on this page. She was 4 when she came to America.
Here in Fall River, they lived at 15 Marsh Street for over 30 years and two more generations. My Grandparents were married in that house, my father born there, and my grandfather died there.
